Racing News Update

30.10.2009

Popular racing tips selection, Ollie Magern, has been confirmed as a runner in the Bet365 Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby tomorrow.

The Nigel Twiston Davies-trained gelding has an enviable record at the Yorkshire course having enjoyed his last three victories there - the Towton in 2005 and the Charlie Hall in 2005 and 2007.

Whilst the eleven-year-old has experiened a loss of form at the start of the season this has meant that he losses his penalty for the Grade Two event and may well attract some horse racing tips in the morning depending on the odds available in the betting market.

Amongst his fellow runners there are some quality horses such as Deep Purple, Tamarinbleu, Church Island and Snoopy Loopy who will all have a say in where the trophy eventually ends up this year.

In other news, there will be many of interested followers of the Alan King-trained Crick watching his seasonal debut on Tuesday at Exeter.

The six-year old won the Grand Annual at Cheltenham last term and followed up with another victory in the Red Rum at Aintree shortly afterwards despite carrying an extra 9lb. As a result of the Aintree win, the horse is due to carry another 9lb but tKing remains condfident and fancies his charge to do well. King is an excellent judge and this may be one to watch this season.

Finally, the apprentice title race is hotting up as the season draws to a climax on Saturday 7th November. David Probert rode a superb race to win on Lithaam at Wolverhampton last night. This brings his total wins this term up to 64 and leaves him just three shy of Frederik Tylicki, who has claimed 67 winners. These two great young jockeys are showing some excellent form and are sure to claim a few more victories to ensure that the title race goes right down to the wire.

Horse racing meeting are taking place today at Newmarket, Uttoxeter, Wetherby and Wolverhampton.
