Breeders Cup Preview
6.11.2009
Santa Anita plays host to the Breeders Cup World Championship and the feature race, the Breeders Cup Classic, once again promises a fantastic spectacle.
The superb racing is always a huge draw for racing tips and this year promises more of the same with a particular focus on the European challenge in the Classic.
Perhaps most prominent of the European challengers is the Aidan O'Brien-trained Rip Van Winkle. Although his foot problem may play a part in the race, his connections are second to none and O'Brien will be sure that his runners can handle the dirt surface.
His biggest opponent will surely be Zenyatta. Available at 7/2, this mare will be taking on the colts over a longer distance than she is used to but jockey Mike Smith believes that the extra eighth of a mile is likely to be in her favour rather than hinder. The horse normally acts in smaller fields so this will be a huge test.
Twice Over might be one to watch at a generous 16/1 with BetFred.
Horse racing meetings are taking place today at Fontwell, Hexham, Southwell and Wolverhampton.
