With the Hennessy Gold Cup taking place at Newbury this Saturday there is plenty of news for the punter searching for some racing tips to sink their teeth into.
Outside of the favourite, Denman, much has been made of the chances of the Jeremy Scott-trained Gone To Lunch. Priced as short as 12/1, Gone To Lunch has won on both his starts at Newbury and has been unfortunate to only have picked up second place last season at both the Champion Novice Chase at Punchestown and the Scottish National. Whilst the ground might be a little yielding at present, as long as the going is not heavy, this might be one to watch.
Another that might be worth following is Darkness. The Lady Lloyd-Weber-owned runner acts best when fresh and is priced as big as 40/1 with Ladbrokes to claim victory. He has wn over the race distance and should be taken seriously as long as the ground doesn't bottom out.
In other news, Master Minded, a popular selection for lots of horse racing tips, has been ruled out of the Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown next week. The popular Paul Nicholls two-miler has been sent for bone scan to discover why the horse has been hanging right. The problem has been noticable since Saturday and must be addressed to get the best out of the horse. The next target for Master Minded will now be the Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival next year with a warm-up expected in the Game Spirit at Newbury.
Racing today takes place at Lingfield, Sedgefield and Southwell.
